  9. What does "Deskpop" do?
  10. Deskpop is a Control Strip module which lists all volumes, folders and files currently on the Mac's desktop.
  11. This is especially useful for the (hopefully short) time the desktop is cluttered.
  12. Folders are displayed with the underline style.
  13. Volumes (a.k.a. Disks) are displayed with the bold bold+underline style.
  14. The Trash is displayed with the bold style.

  16. Selecting an item from the Deskpop menu will open it.
  17. Holding down the Control+Option keys will reveal it in the Finder.
  18. Holding down the Control+Shift keys will move the selected item to the Trash.
  19. If the selected item is a volume, Control+Shift+selecting it will not affect it at all.

  21. Requirements
  22. Requires Mac OS 7.1 or better, and scriptable Finder (which is integrated into Mac OS 7.5 and better, I believe).

  24. Installing "Deskpop"
  25. To install Deskpop in Mac OS 8, simply drag it over the active system folder then restart the Mac.
  26. Otherwise, place it in the "Control Strip Modules" folder within the active system folder, then restart the Mac.

  29. Pass it on, give it away, trash it - I don't mind.
  30. But if you do pass it on, please try to include this document with it.
  31. If you use Deskpop and email me with "I Use Deskpop" in the subject of the email, I'll inform you of new versions of Deskpop.

  37.     • Changed the keys: Control+Option for revealing, Control+Shift for trashing. (Sorry Bob).
  38. Hopefully, the next version (first after release) will have a way to configure this.

  41.     • Holding down the Shift+Delete keys will move the selected item to the Trash.

  49.     • Deskpop doesn't try to resolve aliases anymore - it only displays them in italic, and if the alias points at a folder/disk/server, it is displayed as a folder (underlined).
